Please Don’t Touch is the bold and eclectic second solo album from Steve Hackett, released shortlyafter his departure from Genesis. This 1978 release sees Hackett stepping firmly out of the shadow of his former band, crafting a genre-defying mix of prog, orchestration, folk, and even hints of Broadway. The album’s title is a humorous nodto Hackett’s frustration at not being able to bring certain compositions to Genesis during the Wind & Wuthering sessions — among them, the instrumental firestorm that would become the album’s title track. The project is also notable for its astonishing international guest roster, with contributions from US soul, rock, jazz, and prog royalty. — all tied together by his unmistakable guitar style.
