NEIL ARDLEY A Symphony Of Amaranths (British Jazz Masterpiece 1972 UK 8-track stereo vinyl LP with 'factory sample' sticker to the A Side. The first half is devoted to the title piece, an extraordinary original composition by Ardley devoted tothe greats; Duke Ellington & Gil Evans, written for large ensemble including Don Rendell, Stan Tracey, Henry Lowther, Harry Beckett, Jeff Clyne & Jon Hiseman. The second side sees the words of Edward Lear, W. B. Yeats, James Joyce, Lewis Carroll put to music - Ivor Cutler narrates 'TheDong With A Luminous Nose', worth the price of admission alone, & Norma Winstone's delivery on 'Will You Walk A Little Faster' is just lovely! Condition:-

The sleeve shows fairliy noticeable discolouration but is free from splits or tears and has the original price sticker still attached to the top right corner.

The labels are clean and a 'FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE' sticker graces the A Side.

The vinyl grades Excellent shows very little sign of play.
This album is possibly the very height of creativity in progressive British Jazz... if you've seen the BBC's British Jazz documentary from a few years back, you'll know this is the record Gilles Peterson holds up to the camera as if to say, 'you must own this one'!
