Stereo LP, fully laminated picture sleeve)

TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Fresh Cream was Cream's debut and the first of three fantastic albums. This is clearly their best blues statement with covers of Willie Dixon's 'Spoonful' and their cover of Muddy Waters classic 'Rollin' And Tumblin'. The album also points to the excellent songwriting of Disraeli Gears and the extensive jamming featured on Wheels Of Fire.
This German release adds the single tracks 'Wrapping Paper' & 'The Coffee Song' which were not on their UK counterpart as well as a slightly different sleeve design.
Jack Bruce's collection of originals here are among the best he'd pen for the band whether it was the blues of 'Sleepy Time Time', the excellent 'Dreaming' or the short jamming 'N.S.U.', which would lead to the improvisation of their live shows exhibited on Wheels Of Fire. Bruce's bass playing is also very innovative throughout the album and he plays a mean harmonica on 'Cat's Squirrel' and 'Rollin' And Tumblin.' Ginger Baker's drumming is very powerful and innovative throughout, particularly on his compositions 'Toad' and the excellent 'Sweet Wine.' Clapton didn't write any tracks here, however his playing is outstanding, particularly on 'Spoonful' and the Skip James tune 'I'm So Glad.' The band's performances of the cover tunes are very powerful with Jack Bruce truly making 'Spoonful' his own with his excellent vocal performance. Simply a stunning debut from one of the best bands from the '60s. Highly recommended.
Condition:
The sleeve shows a little not unexpected shelfwear after fifty five years in the wild with a degree of edge scuffing but nothing too extreme and it keeps its 'vintage' feel with no major defects.
The spine is clearly readable with a little light scuffing and the colours remain bright.
The vinyl has obviously been played but equally obviously has been well looked after. There are a few light scuffs and surface hairlines evident but nothing that would affect play. A certain degree of background noise between tracks and in quiet passages should be expected.
Overall a very acceptable copy of this very hard to find LP at a seriously advantageous price. Although not mint, it remains very acceptable and it is only the fouth copy of this German pressing we have seen in over thirty five years.
