TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Every track on Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars sounds like it was pulled from the rock 'n' roll bible. The album created a mythology that reached beyond the Chuck Berry folklorisms of the everyday rocker to create a new type of rockstar.
With Ziggy, Bowie created a viable alter-ego to descend onto the planet & wreak havoc on rock's fertile soil & in doing so, he created the most original rock creation since the music's inception 20 years before.
Musically, the album was as inspired as Ziggy's persona. Mick Ronson's snarling guitar evoked the triumphant power of the late '60s guitar heroes, but added a flash so dynamic fans knew why the Spiders were labelled 'glitter rockers'.
History & Condition
This first issue pre-dates the Mainman contract & as such there are NO Mainman references or logos anywhere on the sleeve or record label. There is a logo on the rear of the sleeve with the text 'A Gem Production'
0
The matrix numbers in the run out groove are:
BGBS 0864 -1E & BGBS 0865-1E
The black & white lyric inner shows some notable creasing and signs of handling and foxing with the start of some split on the bottom edge and one of the side edges.
The sleeve shows a little shelf/ringwear & minor creasing, with a little scuffing to the edges/corners, although once again nothing excessive.
The label is the original thick orange glossy RCA Victor variant
The vinyl itself is a heavy pressing, unlike many later issues which used Dynaflex flexi vinyl.
The vinyl shows light cosmetic wear with some signs of play evident on the labels, but the vinyl itself shows a few light scuffs, (small scuff to 'Five Years') not affecting play in the slightest.
A nice, if not excellent, example of this genuine first pressing that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
